LISBON, 5 November 2019 — The United Nations Global Compact will this week join technology companies and startups at Web Summit 2019 to explore innovative business solutions that can help make the Sustainable Development Goals a reality by 2030.

Attracting around 70,000 innovators and entrepreneurs, Web Summit convenes the founders and CEOs of technology companies, fast-growing startups, policymakers and politicians to help shape a new era of global business.

At the SDG Media Zone — taking place in the Planet Tech area (E214) — the UN Global Compact in partnership with the UN Department of Global Communications and the PVBLIC Foundation will be hosting a series of interviews and panel discussions on the intersection of business, technology and the Global Goals.

Speakers at the SDG Media Zone include Lise Kingo, CEO and Executive Director of the UN Global Compact and Tony Blair, former British Prime Minister, along with a diverse group of CEOs, tech industry leaders, innovative companies, fast-paced startups and leading journalists, who will discuss how business and disruptive technologies can help deliver the Sustainable Development Goals. The SDG Media Zone will be livestreamed here.

At the Web Summit, the UN Global Compact — in collaboration with PA Consulting and Volans — will also launch new guidance for businesses to leverage the Sustainable Development Goals to inspire their innovation processes and capture future market needs.
