(Istanbul, 2 December 2015) – The G20 Summit was held in Antalya, Turkey this year and world leaders agreed on a roadmap for inclusive and sustainable growth for the coming years.

Over the course of the 2015, G20 Governments as well as businesses (B20) and civil society (C20) worked on formulating a common message for the world community, which followed the launch of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

With the support of Global Compact Network Turkey, one of the key messages from the Turkish Government was inclusiveness.  Global Compact Network Turkey Chairman Dr. Argüden worked to demonstrate the importance of the UN Global Compact’s principles in the successful implementation of inclusiveness.

In his speech at the Inclusive Growth Conference at the G20, Dr. Yılmaz Argüden noted: “Good governance is the key for inclusiveness, effective implementation, and increasing growth. Therefore, G20 governments need to focus on creating a regulatory environment where transparency in the public and private sectors is the norm by advocating the adoption of principled business practices, such as those advanced by the United Nations Global Compact, and actions towards the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.  Governments should also embrace integrated reporting across the economy as the most effective way of improving transparency and building trust, in order to achieve inclusive and sustainable development.”

The UN Global Compact was featured in the recommendations for the G20 and responsible business conduct featured prominently in remarks to the G20 by Mr. Rifat Hisarciklioglu, B20 chairman and President of the Turkish Union of Chamber and Commodities Exchanges.
