Toward Rio: Global Compact Launches Local Network Report 2011

(New York, 13 June 2012) – The Global Compact Local Network Report 2011 was released today, in advance of the Annual Local Networks Forum (ALNF) to be held during the Rio+20 Corporate Sustainability Forum in Rio de Janeiro (15-18 June).
The Annual Report features an overview of 2011 Network-related activities with an analysis of progress made by the Local Networks and how they have developed over the past year. In 2011, the number of the Global Compact Local Networks reached 100 with six launches and re-constituted Networks. The overview also includes a summary of the ALNF 2011, a one-week long Exchange Programme, as well as various Regional Meetings, and participation in the Local Networks by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
In addition, this year’s report contains 22 best practices from 20 Local Networks in the following countries: Australia, Bulgaria, Chile, Colombia, Egypt, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Republic of Korea, Namibia, Netherlands, Pakistan, Peru, Spain, Sri Lanka, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.
