(Istanbul, 21 October 2015) – Global Compact Local Network contact persons from Brazil, Canada, Jordan, Switzerland, Tunisia and Turkey gathered in Istanbul, Turkey  for the 7th Local Network Exchange Programme to learn and exchange expertise on a variety of topics ranging from management of daily operations to reporting, to business engagement in light of the recently adopted Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Local Network Exchange Programme seeks to foster collaboration among Local Networks by providing an opportunity to share experiences and identify best practices across regional boundaries. Newly-appointed contact persons from various networks gather at a particular network and participate in practical working sessions, with the goal of developing an in-depth analysis of the challenges and opportunities associated with Global Compact Local Networks’ operations.

To close the programme, the participants visited a UN Global Compact company to learn about their extensive work in the social, environmental and governance spheres of sustainability, particularly their award-winning actions in the promotion of the Women’s Empowerment Principles.
