(Madrid, 14 July 2017)   On 14 July, Global Compact Network Spain promoted the creation of a working group to promote the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the food and beverage industry, one of the main economic sectors in Spain, with a production value of 95 million euros annually.

In accordance with the successful methodology of work previously applied by the Spanish Network on issues such as human rights and sustainable tourism, the Working Group on Food and Beverage has just been created. Good practices will be compiled to accompany the actions, as well as indicators to measure the progress of companies and examples of partnerships between different players.

The conclusions of this initiative will be included in a publication, which will be presented in the first quarter of 2018. During these months, not only the entities of the working group, but also all the Spanish signatories of the sector, will have the opportunity to have the most complete vision of the challenges and opportunities in the contribution to Agenda 2030.

The participants of this work group are: Agroamb Prodalt, Alcampo, Quality Pascual, COATO, DIA, Ebro Foods, ECODES, El Corte Inglés, Restoration Trademark Business Association, Eroski Group, Siro Group, Mahou San Miguel, Mercadona, Prosalus, Supracafe, Spanish Federation of Industries Food and Beverages (FIAB), AECOC, United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment.

Fish and Seafood - National Technical Center for the Conservation of Fishery Products (ANFACO), Manos Unidas, UNICEF - Spanish Committee.
