(Madrid, 9 March 2015) – Defining a post-2015 agenda is essential to global development as the targets for the Millennium Development Goals are set to expire this year. Global Compact Network Spain recently launched a Post-2015 Private Sector Working Group to address the ways business can contribute to theUN Post-2015 Development Agenda.

The group will focus on two objectives:

  1. Identifying priority areas affecting Spanish businesses; and
  2. Contributing to the UN agenda by drawing upon best practices and innovations from the private sector.

The working group will work to identify issues most relevant to Spain and to find any existing entry points by which the private sector can contribute to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The working group plans to provide recommendations on UN Global Compact platforms and issue areas, such as EnvironmentBusiness for the Rule of Law and the Food and Agriculture Business Principles.

The inaugural members of the working group include, Rafael del Pino, CaixaBank, Agbar, Prosegur, Cofides, and Mapfre Foundation, with plans to expand to include several educational institutions.
