(Asunción, 4 September 2014) – Today in Asunción, Global Compact Network Paraguay concluded a two-day “Architects of a Better World” strategic planning workshop which explored the Post-2015 Business Engagement Architecture from a bottom-up perspective and discussed opportunities for responsible and sustainable value creation within the national context.

The workshop – hosted by UNDP and Global Compact Network Paraguay, in collaboration with the UN Global Compact – was attended by dozens of representatives from business, civil society, the public sector, academia and the UN.

The first day of the event included a working session exploring the main social and market value drivers operating in Paraguay, building trust in corporate sustainability through reporting practices, and the relevancy of UN Global Compact issues platforms and resources as they relate to the national context. The working session helped to set strategic priorities for the Local Network over the next two years. Day Two of the workshop focused on relevant development issues including poverty reduction, good governance and anti-corruption, gender equality, human rights, climate change and risk prevention.

The network also organized a special breakfast, attended by 35 CEOs of Paraguayan companies, to introduce the Business Engagement Architecture and to further explore topics covered over the course of the workshop.
