(Medellin, 19 March 2015) – Global Compact Network Colombia in partnership with Swiss and Colombian organizations organized and participated in the Third International Seminar on Water Footprint. The seminar focused on understanding and assessing the impact of water use by companies, as well as sharing good practices for water resources management.

UN Global Compact Deputy Director Gavin Power made remarks via video on the importance of the CEO Water Mandate as a valuable action platform for the Post-2015 Agenda. As part of the seminar, signatory companies of the CEO Water Mandate discussed their expectations and plans for 2015, which included a focus on collective action, value chains and tools for water resources management.

Global Compact Network Colombia also reaffirmed its interest in working with SuizAgua Colombia, a Swiss cooperation program that will widen its coverage to measuring the water footprint of Colombian companies.

As part of the Local Network outreach strategy, the CEO Mandate is working with the Colombia Local Network in 2015 to identify mechanisms to increase awareness and action on water stewardship. Participants of Global Compact Network Colombia were introduced to the Water Action Hub, an online matchmaking tool developed by the CEO Water Mandate to connect businesses with potential partners in support of water-related issues.
