(Medellin, 6 November 2013) – The Global Compact Local Networks Regional Meeting – Americas concluded today followed by the Latin America and Caribbean Global Compact Business Forum.

During the meeting participants explored elements of the Post-2015 Business Engagement Architecture. Local Networks representatives agreed to use the Architecture as a foundation for their strategic planning processes and coordinate their   activity plans according to its components. This will allow Local Networks to collectively map their work against a common framework.

Local Network representatives were briefed on new resources and issue platforms released at the Global Compact Leaders Summit 2013, as well as new developments from the Global Compact Office, including the recently launched Communication on Engagement for non-business participants.

The Regional Center for the Support of the Global Compact in Latin America and the Caribbean presented their activities, best practices and reviewed the type of support that they offer to Global Compact Local Networks in the region.

Three training sessions for Local Networks were offered: GRI provided an update on the G4 reporting framework; The Partnering Initiative offered partnership capacity building; and Local Networks participated in a workshop on media relations.

The Regional Meeting was attended by Local Network representatives from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay, as well as the Regional Center for the Support of the Global Compact in Latin America and the Caribbean.
