(Paris, 22 December 2015) – During the Caring for Climate Business Forum at COP21 on 7-8 December, Global Compact Network France organized a session to showcase good practices from all continents in the fight against climate change.

Representatives from Brazil, Canada, China, France, South Africa and Spain came to Paris to showcase concrete projects, discuss trainings, events, publications and national alliances to mobilize companies and SMEs along value chains to shift toward low carbon business models. Participants learned how Global Compact Local Networks foster climate action, build stronger connections to advance sustainability and engage companies across the globe.

The event demonstrated the the need to act locally while collaborating globally, highlighting the role of the 90 Global Compact Local Networks in connecting stakeholders to work towards more resilient and sustainable societies. 

Global Compact Network France organized a session at COP21 to showcase good practices from all continents in the fight against climate change.

UN Member States have recognized the decisive role of Global Compact Local Networks in tackling climate change, diffusing United Nations values and principles and spreading partnerships with business on a broad scale.

Lise Kingo, Executive Director of the UN Global Compact stated: “The Local Networks are very much the core of the Global Compact, ensuring that we are a truly global organization that can reach out to all companies throughout the world, big and small, and work with them to help them become more responsible.”

In 2016, many Local Networks will focus on helping companies to implement concrete climate change policies and actions, while continuing to raise awareness in their respective countries.
