(Santiago de Chile, 18 May 2012) – Global Compact Local Networks in Argentina, Chile and Paraguay, in close collaboration with CapacitaRSE, have developed the first comprehensive “Online Diploma” covering the Global Compact’s ten principles in the areas of human rights, labour standards, the environment and anti-corruption. The online training course, which is available to all Global Compact participants in Latin America and the Caribbean, will begin on 28 May.

The course will spell out actions that executives, managers and professionals can take to weave the principles into the design of their business strategies and day-to-day operations, while also increasing awareness of the Global Compact.

"The Diploma is an opportunity to understand the challenges of the Global Compact, with the support of leading specialists and business experiences," said Flavio Fuertes, Coordinator of the Global Compact Network Argentina. Added Marlene Heinrich, Manager of the Global Compact Network Paraguay, "The platform and activities of the Diploma will allow a unique perspective on regional learning."

Certified by four universities in the region, the programme includes ten weeks of activities in an online platform in which participants will receive training and individual tutoring from corporate responsibility experts from business and academia. Participants will be able to attend an in-person closing meeting in Santiago de Chile on 23 August, during which they will share their acquired knowledge with Global Compact business representatives in Chile. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate issued jointly by the National University Andres Bello (Chile), National University of Asuncion (Paraguay), Paraguay’s Columbia University and the University of Southern Cone of the Americas.
